Founded in 1916, Attucks High School stands as a monumental pillar of Black excellence, community resilience, and cultural heritage in Hopkinsville and across Western Kentucky. For almost a century, Attucks was more than an educational institution, it was the beating heart of the African American community, instilling pride, leadership, and opportunity across generations.
Today, this sacred sanctuary of hope and history faces an unprecedented crisis. Recent structural issues compromised the building’s integrity, leading the Code Enforcement Board to deem it unsafe until major renovations occur. We are now ready to begin those renovations. A small committed group has banded together to develop a strategic restoration plan to stabilize the structure and save this irreplaceable historic site from irreversible loss. It is critical that this effort is fully funded in order to achieve the objective of school’s restoration.

Every dollar contributed to The 1916 Sustaining Circle is strictly budgeted across three operational core pillars:
Facility Maintenance & Reserve
Building insurance, routine HVAC/roof inspections, security systems, and long-term capital repair reserves.
Utilities & Site Operations
Electricity, water, internet, landscaping, janitorial services, and day-to-day building overhead.
Community & Cultural Programs
Funding historical exhibits, educational workshops, community meetings, and youth mentorship initiatives.

Operating concurrently with Phase 1 and Phase 2, this digital peer-to-peer campaign mobilizes 100 Digital Captains across the Hopkinsville diaspora. Each Captain commits to recruiting 100 friends to contribute $100 each, generating a transformative $1,000,000 impact pipeline.
Each Captain commits to an ambitious goal of raising $10,000 total ($100 × 100 donors). Captains can leverage three flexible options to achieve this milestone across their network:
- The Century Direct (100 × $100): 100 friends contribute $100 each directly.
- The Team Captain Model (10 × 10 × $100): Captain recruits 10 Co-Captains, who each recruit 10 friends at $100.
- The Accelerated Pledge ($100 One-Time or $10/mo): Donors give $100 upfront or pledge $10/month to lower entry friction.
